With continuous rainfall affecting lives across the country the Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted partly to generally cloudy conditions throughout the country. The MFD said light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at some places of the central and western regions and a few places in the eastern region in the country tomorrow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Flood Forecasting Section has advised people to remain on high alert in some areas of the hilly region of Gandaki Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A release issued by FFS says that there are also high chances of increase in water flow in small rivers and rivulets flowing from the Chure region and in the Tarai region of Sudurapaschim Province and in Province 1 and 2. It has warned people living in these areas to remain on high alerts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It has also advised people living around Koshi, Kamala, Bagmati, Narayani, Rapti and Tinau rivers to remain on high alert against the possibility of flash floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the past 24 hours, MFD said Nepalgunj received 76.7 mm rainfall and Birendranagar received 67.9 mm. Kathmandu received 17.4 mm, Okhaldhunga 47.7 mm and Biratnagar received 50.8 mm rainfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to MFD, the axis of the monsoon trough has shifted from its normal position. \u201cThe western part of the monsoon trough is around its normal position, but the eastern part of the monsoon trough has shifted to the northern side. Low pressure system is also active causing rainfall. This low pressure system has started to weaken. So the rainfall will not last long,\u201d said Raju Dhar Pradhananga, meteorologist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Nepal Police, floods have hit 248 places and there were landslides in 471 areas from April 14 till September 16 this year. A total of 271 people lost their lives in various disasters within the time period while 646 were injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Similarly 767 people have been displaced while 30 have disappeared in the incidents. A total of 4,607 houses were inundated within the time period.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
